I have tried to find a coin or coins with trains depicted on them and have had no luck except one Canadian offering on eBay. Yes I used Google images and found a few examples but none for sale. I don't want a high end coin it is for my three year old grandson that loves trains. Any help or advice appreciated.

The other option (depending on the kid's age and appropriateness) is to start looking at tokens at coin shows. You may end up getting the kid interested in a focus on one of those. They may not always show trains, but sometimes it is transportation the kid is interested in and trains just are a big part....

there are a lot of coins out there with trains on them.

An ebay search right now in the coins and paper money section and then limited to world coins comes up with 118 listings with listing as low as $1 BIN

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-1-chon...1185120?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item5d3df156e0

    and

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-1-2-Ch...4143785?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item1c325e95a9

They are both from the same seller so you could probably get combined shipping. (shipping is $2)

I have no association with these listings.

Good link spiritofyoda, pulling up just one page, I found 13 listings. Also try using the keyword "railroadiana". You will find a lot of other items related but you can filter it out. In the process you might find something else related to railroads you might want to consider. Also try using the keyword "railroad token" as some times folks put their items in the wrong place.

Another option is to buy an inexpensive stock certificate with a train engraving vignette decorating the stock. Perhaps you could frame it an hang it on his bedroom or living room wall for appreciation and inspiration. Check Scripophily.net, or eBay listings for such material. Very cool items of monetary history and vintage railroad company memorabilia, with hand engraved designs from the great age of locomotives and rail shipping/travel. Here's one of mine.
