There's a few coins in the Heritage Auction that I'm really gunning for, so that's probably going to deplete my cash reserves. I'm still gonna go and look at all the pretty coins!
I'm actually after a Lincoln plaque that was at the show a few years back. It will show up again. I may go to the Heritage auctions and bid on all the PL stuff
Megabus? LoL...,, I'm actually going. Airfare from KC was only $263 and the hotel within walking distance $69 a night. And I made reservations with less than 21 days advance purchase. Will be the first time I have attended. To be honest, the coins at the NYINC are far more tantalizing, but the same 5 day 4 night trip to New York would cost 6 times what Orlando will end-up costing. I'm sure there will be some world coins down there in Florida too, especially Spanish Colonial material. I do collect Peru, so I am almost guranteed to find a coin or two I can add.
There is a section given to ancient and foreign coins. Check the dealers and locations via the floor plan on the FUN site. It's right next to the Treasury Department display. There are about 45 tables that will be exclusive. You will find many dealers who will have them and other coins as well. They will be scattered around the hall.
-9 here this morning, and it was 82 in Orlando yesterday. It is supposed to be "cooler" and only about 70 there most of the week.
I will be there. We are actually en route from Baton Rouge at the moment. The wife and kid and inlaws will do Disney while I slip away for the show . This will be my first FUN show as well. I'm hoping to score a common date St. Guadens in MS65 for a fair price... If I don't blow all my cash on Mercury Dimes! Hope to possibly say Hello to other members.
Although the high in Orlando will be 61 on opening day for the convention, it will be only 1 in Chicago with a low of -10. Where would you rather be? I do plan to take a heavier coat. We are going to have a few mid-forty degree nights there.
Well we should all have lunch or coffee Friday or Saturday. I will be around then if anyone wants to chat. Maybe all hang out in front of Charmy's booth!
I think David Harper is giving a talk in one of the meeting rooms at 12:00 on Friday, -was thinking I would eat and check that out.
Maybe we can set some plans for a meal as it gets closer to the show. I'll be there Thursday and Friday
Btw, was @Amanda Varner going to do a map for us showing CTer's where are favorite CT dealers were at? I apologize, but even though I know dealers here, I am not sure of their names they would have their tables under, like TomB. I haven't got to these types of shows lately, usually going to CICF, so I would hate to miss any good dealers here and the chance to say hi.
medoraman; Now that you mentioned it, I think you are correct. I'm not sure if she was going to PM it or if you had to stop by their booth and pick it up.
The Fly-In club is for collectors of Flying Eagle and Indian Cents. The club meeting schedule is here: http://www.funtopics.com/content/forms/FUN_Club_Meetings_2015.pdf For anyone going - I usually find club meetings to be extremely interesting, if you like the type of coins they collect. The experts in the field are usually there, one of them will often give an educational presentation, everyone shows off what they've gotten at the show, and you can make friends with like-minded collectors. The John Reich Society is at the top of my list!
I had plans to go, but some unexpected expenses forced me to cancel the trip. A real bummer. Still hope to make it in 2016 or 2017.
Where is the West concourse? Is it the one beside the Rosen Plaza and across the street from the Peabody?
