Those coins look like time for conservation! If it would be worth the money to have it done.

I've seen that happen to flocking before...lame deal. You can scrub it down to practically nothing (very messy, but with it), then acetone the coins and maybe a quick dip to get 'em back to normal, but the package will never be nice again :-(

I had the same problem with a Russian set in my safe. Don't tell anybody but that's when I stopped storing my coins in my safe.

    Oh MAN, that's rough.

As a seller who had recently sold a RCM proof set, I was hoping against all hope that it wasn't the set I'd just sold...luckily mine was a 1987. :)

Sorry to see what's become of yours, though. Acetone soak maybe?

I'm surprised that just being in a certain environment did that to coins. Now that you know that you will know how to not store certain coins. Next time put them in regular at normal room temp. Sorry about that.

These were given to me many years ago in a box, this was the worst of the bunch, not sure how they stored them. but over the years they have gotten bad. i rinsed them in acetone, this is the out come.i think these older proof sets holders, didn't hold up well, the red felt melted and turned to a gluey substance.:(
