Hello, recently got this medal in a job lot. Weighs 41 grams and is 5 cm by 4.5 cm. I cant find it on any coin site or ebay. Anyone know exactly what it is, the material used and most importantly, its value.
I would email the National Bank of Kuwait and ask them. You may not get an answer but you really have nothing to lose. It may even be worth the big money. Good luck!!
Try this: CustomerCareUnit@nbk.com Or: Head Office P. O. Box 95 Safat, 13001 Kuwait Abdullah Al Ahmad Street, Sharq State of Kuwait Tel: +965 2242 2011 Fax: +965 2243 1888
Thanks guys. I have contacted them with the details and I will post back here when I get a response. Been asking around and all I am getting is that it is a medal to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the NBK, but when I look through their commemorative records I cant find it. Will just have to wait and see, thanks again.
I wish I could give you a direct answer. I spent time in Kuwait during the mid '80s-early '90s and after the Gulf war to help them rebuild. The company did banking work and I spent a lot of time with NBK as well as other banks in the city. It was common practice to produce tokens as gifts to visitors and customers. I don't read Arabic and other than the numeral "3" and possibly a stylized "0" following it I don't recognize much else. The only thing that might help is the map doesn't show the ring roads that circle the city. They all don't go near the sea but at least one should have shown and I don't see it as I remember it. They were there in 1986.
