Looks like PIDT to me (progressive indirect design transfer). See here: http://www.error-ref.com/progressive-indirect-design-transfer/
I don't think so. From jay's link: Since coins that are in a Late Die State (LDS) develop this trait, it is considered a form of die deterioration.
Oh I collect I have a penny box from the bank (25$) full of wheats I have picked up the past few years and just rolled them up just going through them tonight
I have over $50 in wheats that at some point I want to go back through and check for errors and varieties. I just keep searching and adding to it but never get to check them out
You are better than me I keep wondering what, if anything, I have in all those rolls. I just keep looking for more stuff though.
And I was hoping it was a die clash cause that and a cud is about the only two errors I haven't ever found
The reason why I said 1946 is because that is the most common year for it too, I went through 1,000 wheaties just now and 4 of the 1946's had that effect on them. Plus, When I search that error online I see 1946 examples of that coin.
When it comes to cuds and die clashes, most of the ones I have found have been from the 83-84 time frame.
