Okay, so I admit that I skipped China, Israel and Japan because I can't read the writing on the coins. I will get back to those eventually. I've spent quite a few hours working on organizing and cataloging my World Type Set. I started with my first country alphabetically (currently Afghanistan) and working to Z (currently Zimbabwe). Every one of them has Country, denomination, year, mint mark, and KM# on the 2x2. Some have the alloy of the metal. I hope to finish the work and trade away most of my duplicates in 2015. The remaining countries are cataloged, just jumbled in a bunch of 2x2 boxes. Special thanks to my wife (who is not a member or collector) who has been ever so patient with my cluttering up our living room.
Poland has many nice coins. I have many insects coins from Poland. my favorite older ones are from 1932, 1933, 1934 Queen Jadwiga 2, 5, and 10 denomination silver coins. you can usually tell from the head band if it is UNC grade and the stars on the eagle on the reverse. you can find the mint mark or no mint mark in the eagles right claw. these get expensive in high grade slabbed PCGS or NGC. most get cleaned.
So hard to decide which are my favorite, but here are some that came to mind as I dug through them. I specifically love the old copper coins, unfortunately most of mine are so unrecognizable that I can only tell what denomination they are. Here are some photos:
Coins of Great Britain, most of them are heavily worn: KM 566 Penny KM 618 Penny KM 663 Penny KM 663B Penny KM 748.2 Half Penny KM 749.2 Penny KM 753 Farthing KM 755 Penny KM 790 Penny KM 794.2 Penny KM 809 Half Penny KM 810 Penny
I already added these under the 2014 thread, so, this is a partial repeat post... 2014 Year End Review.....Post Something From 2014
Cool, I only have 10 different coins from Poland. Despite having dated a girl who had it as a tattoo and corrected me, the Polish eagle on the reverse still looks like a chicken to me.
I have two albums and a box with nothing but. No silver in the albums or box, those are all in Air-Tites in another box, but not those ugly Air-Tites @spirityoda uses with black rings, mine have white rings. Yeah, I heard the chicken comment many times.
here is 1 coin that only costed me $70.00 about 10 years ago and now they run $500-$600 on Ebay. 2 coins for the "coins with insects" collection coin is perfect scratches are on the airtite here's a nice butterfly that went for $70 now going for $100-120 on Ebay.
@spirityoda Well, If you're missing any, have any US coins for swap or other Poland duplicates, I'll be happy to show you all my Poland doubles via private email.
