The Obsolete Penny Jar

I was recently given a Canadian penny jar. We haven't used the penny since 2012. I decided to go through it, separate the older copper cents and take out the new mint ones to keep. I left the zinc, steel and ugly ones for rolling and deposit in the bank, since stores no longer accept them.

Thought you might want to see what the surprise content of a Canadian penny jar looks like. Aside from the handful of US Memorial cents and a few surprises, over 90% of the jar's content was Canadian cents. Here are the surprises or more interesting finds...

Ken is just using the "coin jug thingy" as an excuse to drink more wine.

Well, the wine jug is far bigger than the bourbon bottle.......

Why don't you just buy wine by the cask?

To OP, I made a nice visit to your country in Nov. Was really surprised when a retailer gave me a few rolls of cents after I asked, WOW, you have Canadian cents.

I haven't tackled a penny jar since June of 2013. That earlier one netted me a handful of wheat cents, an older smaller cent with King George V and this split planchet after strike...

I noticed the Australian $2 piece in the foreign coins. Nice!

First time I've seen one. I have an Aussie $1 somewhere, but, never knew the $2 is so tiny. Reminds me of a UK pound £.
