Was going to use my "first coin for 2015" but I see thats already in use. Or I could have used "first coin received in 2015" since I bought this in 2014 and didn't receive it until now. Or I could use....

You've got some great detail on the obverse of that coin. The type can get very mushy. Still, even on the better coins, Jesus looks like he's wearing a welder's mask.

Apparently he was a carpenter ... but perhaps he was a jack-of-all-trades? (the dude seemed to have skills to burn!!)

Technically this type is medieval Although the 11th century was such a long time ago it might as well be ancient!

 

geeesh ... man, I remember the good ol' days when the ancients and the world coins were intertwined like a healthy growing Redwood (huh, things seemed sooo clear in 2014)
