If I post too many of these, you guys are going to start thinking everything I have is a problem coin. That said, pick this one apart. You might not be able to figure it out from pictures.

Cleaned, but every 20 cent is cool anyway.

  4. Was it cleaned by dipping it in some sort of chemical?

Great date. The eagle head and eye look tooled, and it looks lightly polished, but 1876 is a hugely under rated date. MUCH lower mintage than the 1875 CC.

If I had to guess it was rubbed with a light compound resulting in the polished surfaces and the darkness surrounding the devices.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

It looks off, but I can't quite put my finger on why based on those pictures.

Cleaned/altered surfaces and scratched. Unless that one on the obverse is on the holder

I'm thinking tooled/altered surfaces as the fields look strange; might just be an aggressive cleaning. Still a scarce P mint doubledime

76 a real tough date for a 20c is my type set one everyone who's seen that one loved it. I run across 75 p and 75 cc on occasion but dang near never see a 76. Mintage only 14k or so

It almost looks like a proof that was circulated...nice coin though

I would guess the coins been in a collar for a pendant and protected the edge?

That scratch is on the holder.

    Here's what ANACS thinks.

Nothing I can do about it being whizzed and the lacquer won't hurt it so I've just left it in its yellow tomb.

Well that explains the luster. I loose :(
