Look at this ebay auction that just ended and look at the design at the grading service holder insert......definitely intentionally designed to resemble an NGC holder. I get tired of seeing this garbage. Looks like its call NCGS, NU Coin Grading Service. That hurt my eye's trying to focus on it, I woudnt buy from them if they cant be botherd to put up a half decent pic. For me it begs the question what are they hiding or are they just incompetant photographers! De Orc
Incompetant photographer here. Be nice now. Then again my digicam is pretty old too. Probably more the former tho:headbang:
"THIS 1880-O IS NCGS CERTIFIED RED BOOK VALUE IS $20,000 PLUS!" And it sold for $76! That says it all. I hope that it is at least AU.
IMHO $76 is about 50% too much. That looks like a $30 coin to me. Yet another reminder to stay away from slabbed coins.
The out of focus camera only has one function.... to hide the fact that the coin would not grade at what it is claimed! I am REALLY WEARY of any auction with a "blurry" photo, no matter how well described the coin is. - Jake
I would never bid on an auction that displays a picture like that much less pay that amount for a coin I cannot see clearly. Obviously, that buyer was suckered in and payed twice as much as that coin is worth.
I hope so to, but sincerely doubt it. Like said earlier, learning to grade coins is really important. You can spot the undergraded and overgraded coins easily, and stay away from the scams and find the deals. Honestly, this company sounds like another SGS. Just my two cents. :thumb: Phoenix
$76.00 + $10.00 shipping for an out of focus, bogus TPG slabbed, Morgan. If it is a mint state coin I would be surprised. The buyer will look back one day and go ouch. I'm sure this happens all the time now.
Of course everyone knows what a Morgan's reverse looks like, so saving the listing fees for a second photo makes good business sense to me.
If you think that resembles an NGC slab, you had better go look at some NGC slabs. The resemblence is very superficial. There have been two different compaies called Nu Grade, this is the second on more recent one. It first showed up about six to eight months ago.
I know what NGC slabs look like, and that the resemblence is very superficial at best, especially for an educated collector. But the fact that they use a similar scale symbol on the front of their slabs could cause confusion to some new collectors, especially considering that NGC labels have changed over the years.
I have got SEVERAL "ouches" in my coin collection! Why do you think I keep coming back to this web site!! LOL And I still DON'T know how to grade my coins!! But, I'll stick around, and try to learn from yinz peoples!! That's what yer supposed to do.....right!?!? HAVE FUN AND LEARN!! Thanks again to EVERYONE!! Even to the person who bought "that" coin! LOL swick
