Checked the Coinstar machine at the grocery store Monday morning and was surprised to see a quarter in there! Got excited thinking it would be silver, but it was just a normal ATB quarter (Denali...forget the year). Not a proof or silver and I couldn't see anything wrong to indicate why it was in the reject slot. And there was a normal 2006 dime on the floor. <shrug> Nothing special, but "free" 35 cents! Rob
Eleven cents in the coin-return bin at the CoinStar this afternoon: (Sorry for the small cell-phone image. The cent is 1929, probably VG; the dime is 1988, steel.) I left a Zincoln and a clad Roosie on the counter, for someone who needs eleven cents more than I do...
I once found an indonesian coin, (forget how much) a couple canadians, and a really wierd coin I can't identify.
awesome!!! Yesterday, I tried to exchange my buchet of coins in the coinstar machine, but... $11.5 CENTS PER DOLLAR!?!?!??! I gave up.
Do the Amazon gift card option - no rake, and you can buy just about anything on there. Use it to buy things that are hard to find in your area, a pain to shop for, etc.
Nice coinstar find today: 1 nickel 10 clad quarters 5 cdn quarters including a colored 1 cayman islands quarter 1 very worn mercury dime 192x
I don't post my finds here unless they are interesting coins. Hell, sometimes I'll just leave the coin on the counter if it's not interesting. My favorites so far are a 1917 French 50 centimes coin and a 1905-O Barber dime. Yay for silver. I've also found other foreign coins but none nearly as interested in the French piece.
An even better coinstar find today (different machine) 6 clad dimes 5 cents 1 clad quarter 2 cdn cents 1 cdn quarter 2 cdn nickels 3 cdn dimes 1 netherland quarter 1 euro cent Now the good stuff: 17 mercury dimes 29 silver roosevelts
Holy cow. Why can't *I* have stupid people like that around here that dump all their silver in my coinstar!
I use coinstar for Amazon gift cards all the time. My kids have even gotten in the habit of doing this. I shop on Amazon more than any other (non coin) store, so it's a no brainer plus you don't pay the service fee.
What an incredible find! The grocery store I frequent does not have a coinstar, but whenever I am in a store with one, it never has any coins in the reject chute
I usually don't find anything, but I've made a few decent finds and a couple of spectacular finds. Here are the two best finds that I've made so far (both silver!)
