I read in a book on Morgan dollars that there are two varieties of the 1898s Morgan dollar. One was made from dies cut by hand and is fully struck and frosted and the other one is cut by machine and is a soft strike that has subdued luster and heavy bagmarks. However, when I asked the dealer about this from whom I have bought an 1898s dollar he didn't know anything about there being two varieties of the 1898s dollar. The dollar I bought looks fully struck but the head on the front doesn't look frosted even though the eagle may be a little frosted. Are there two varieties of the 1898s dollar?
