I know! Been really buried in my job. 2 weeks off now so time to chillax and do some coining and reading and catching up with all you folks.
It's only common sense to be politically incorrect. My oldest son is married to a Jew and she and her family all celebrate with us gentiles. Screw the political correctness.
Merry Christmas all. I got all my coins except one in yesterday. One coin wasn't in the package with my AR Jital. Yeah, this place is incorrect alright!! lol But it sure is fun to post here.
My wife's family started having Chop Suey for Christmas Eve in the 50's. When we were married, we modified the tradition to allow any Chinese food. For the last few years, my daughter and grandson insist we go with them to a Chinese restaurant on Christmas Eve. Yesterday, we all went to the Forbidden City travelling exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and then to fast food Chinese at Panda Express. Tradition for us allows modifications and that flexibility could allow this tradition to last a century as long as our grandson marries appropriately. A few years back my workplace Christmas party was scheduled to be held at a place that went out of business December first. It is hard to schedule a place that close to the date. We found a last minute replacement venue at a Lebanese restaurant and had Christmas with Baba Ganoush and Belly Dancers. That tradition never got off the ground and lasted exactly one day. Merry Christmas.
That's funny about Chinese food on Christmas. I always thought the tradition was turkey on Thanksgiving, ham on Christmas here in the USA.
Happy Christmas and seasons compliments to the Ancients crew! As always, I enjoy your threads which make extraordinary reading material and the impetus to research. Thank you all.
Merry Christmas Coin-talkers! And a special shout out to the Ancient forum regulars. Hope everyone had a good one. It's been a fun year posting on this forum and seeing and reading about the coins you all post. I've learned so much about collecting ancients here, had some fun discussions, marveled over some of the coins posted, and am able to share my NewPs with a group who can appreciate them. Thanks also to Peter and the "management" who make this a fun cyber place to hang out and share. I look forward to more in 2015!
Merry Christmas!! Last night we went to one of the Portuguese cousins' places for a few drinks and appetizers and then we returned home and reheated a chicken-fajitas-bake (the whole night was awesome!) => tonight, we've been invited to one of the other Portuguese cousins' places for Big Turkey Dinner!! ... it is really quite interesting, because cousin Paula married a Newfie guy, so the dinner is a weird 50-50 mix of Portuguese dishes and Newfie treats!! (it is always a great time and always "yummy"!!) ... and there is no shortage of booze at these multicultural galas!! (red wine from the Portuguese-side and beer and "screech" from the good ol' Newfie in-laws) I love coining with you fellas (and lady) and I hope that 2015 will be another super-fun year!! Merry Christmas & Cheers, coin-friends!! We rock!! Hey, I just found a couple of old retro-photos ... the first photo is of my dog Larry & Santa (it was her first Christmas ... she was still so small and cute) Oh, and I also found an even older photo of her Big Brother "Buster" explaining the hierarchy in the ol' family (welcome Larry?) The third photo is a recent photo of Larry (all grown-up) ... ... anyway, sorry for the dog-photos (they're our kids!!) => MERRY CHRISTMAS ... I hope that you're spending it with your favourite family & friends!!
Merry Xmas coin friends (not too late, it's 11:30 PM here, and just back from my parents' where we've had a great time) Q
