Vermont State quarter, seems normal except for the edge, see close-up.

What is going on with the reeding? quarter edge.jpg

I've seen older silver washington quarters with reeding similar to that, but that is very irregular for a newer state quarter. I'm waiting to see if anyone else knows what happened.

Yes, the odd edge is the same all the way around.

    Here's the obv and rev

They look normal, but, sorry, my pix are bad. 1224141437.jpg 1224141437a.jpg 1224141438.jpg

Odd that it would only wear on the edges?

The start of a dryer coin?

The copper sandwich looks like some kind of repetitive contact has been made either at high speed or for a long duration. If this is some result that has been seen before it has piqued my interest and I would be thankful to hear the explanation from a witness.
