Haven't seen a thread like this... I have taken a liking to them within the past year. Lets see what you got!
Only one rattler but I got a crapload of ogh pcgs personally I don't care much for the rattlers but I love the ogh holders
I hate this holder. It conflicts with my OCD sensibilities!!!! Some of the coins already posted aren't in rattler's. My only rattler holds a Morgan and I bought it off eBay.
Their a pain in the butt especially if you like your coin vertically oriented. And like them to fit in a pcgs slab box. Then came the green label pcgs which is my favorite slab type
Todd and Tom, is there a date known for exceptional black and white contrast DMPL that don't cost a bundle in say 64 or 65 grade? In other words, a year that has many coins that look like a deep cameo proof. I was checking out Don Rinkors table once and my jaw dropped.
Todd has more experience than I in searching for these, but it seems the 1880-S would likely be the coin of choice followed by the 1881-S and 1879-S.
This one was in an OGH when I bought it in 2011. Originally given a MS60 in a real old one. NGC cracked it out at a show and assigned it a MS-62 for me later that year. It deserved it. I still own it. Sorry I don't have the original pick of the slab. You guys will have to trust me on this one. I've posted it before.
I have been collecting PCGS Rattlers for almost 10 years now and I have them on the PCGS Registry, Here is the link. http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=1309 I also have a 1881-S Morgan Grading set in Rattlers. MS-60 thru MS-66. I saw a 67 but I didn't have the cash for it. I also have some PL's and I would like to add the DMPL's but they are always selling 2 to 3 time retail. The MS-60 I was surprised to find and I was actively looking for it for 2 or so years. http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/showcase.aspx?sc=1385 I have done other sets as well in rattlers. Click on 'RJP's Sets and Showcases' at PCGS Registry to see the other sets.
