Hi. I found this medal among several other items of different countries. So I decided to post it here in the US Forum. The obverse shows a person raising a sword. It is written up : American Defense. On reverse, I can read : For Service During the Limited Emergency Proclaimed by the President on Sept 8 - 1939 or During the Unlimited Emergency proclaimed by the President on May 27 - 1944. Is it scarce or common ? Thank you.. Charles Am MO.jpg Am MR.jpg

The second date should be 1941.

Is it possible that it has something to do with the Philippines?

How can I tell ? I could read American Defense, and I'm a foreign CT member. I hope to read a national reply. Thanks..
