Any apps out there for tracking your collection

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by MyNameIsCody07, Dec 22, 2014.

  1. I was wondering if any of you here use any kind of mobile app to keep track of your collection? Seems like most just use image and an excel sheet to keep track of everything they own.

If there isn't anything out there or anything that you consider better than the excel sheet process, would anyone be interested in an app that you could store your collection details in? If so, what features of the app would you consider to be necessary in making the app valuable to you?

Photo Bucket has a mobile app that's pretty smooth and quick. If you organize your coin images into libraries (folders) in Photo Bucket, then you can easily go straight to what you are looking for when using the mobile App. Photobucket, web and mobile, are both fee free.

I think Excel is great. But I am inside the MS ecosystem, and excel on my phone "just works". I have a Windows phone and Office 365 & OneDrive.

I think you can also use Office on other phone systems. Just a thought.

Here are non-inventory apps that may be of interest to you:

I also use and recommend NGC Collection Manager, but this is not really meant for mobile. http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=1686

It does NOT have a dedicated app that I'm aware of, and so you would be just viewing it in the mobile browser, which is tedious but better than other solutions.

I've tried just about every coin inventory app on Android and the best one is called US Coins: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bjgapps.USCoins&hl=en

The thing I liked the best about it was the series coverage. Most apps do not go back far enough for what I collect. The interface is easy to use and it's very quick for scanning to see what your holes are if you're going for full date/mm sets. It's not that great if you are collecting custom sets and while you can enter varieties, it's somewhat tedious.
