I had a credit note with an AH so was trying my best to buy something last night but many of the coins like 1950's proof sets sold for more than they were available for in same condition on e-bay. Anything reasonably desirable got lots of interest.....anyway I got this 1896 Morgan for about $50 inc commission....will try and find something else in their next auction in a few days to make up the rest of my credit note. Just saw 'post your Morgan dollar! Whoops...
I tried fixing your white balance, just so I can could see your coin better. Thought you might like to take a peak:
Not to be rude about the auction house but their grades are utter fiction......so I would not think they have any idea about VAM either. My financial circumstances changed in March so I no longer buy very expensive coins...though I still buy a lot of coins lol.
Your not rude . but if this one were mine and I was having is grade I would ask for details...... I understand about changing budget to well . I am retired and money is away different each month
I will have to investigate myself.......probably post it here on a different forum or on Canadian coin community .....my other online home.
I don't see convincing evidence of cleaning lines. I'm guessing MS63. Lots of minor contact marks on devices and fields. Looks to have some luster left as well.
