We will be visiting the Boise area this week for Christmas. It is our first visit there since I began collecting (or accumulating?) coins, so it will be my first opportunity for visiting coins shops there. I will be leaving Saturday afternoon, so a Sat coin show in the area would also be awesome (but unlikely, I suppose). What can you folks recommend? Rob
If you visit any listed in the directory, post a review, I have relatives in the general area and might make it out that way someday.
Thanks folks. Have Rosehill and TV Coin Exchange plotted, plus Idaho Gold and Silver ( couple locations). Rob
I've been in the rose hill shop. It wasn't bad I bought some nice peace dollars. I believe their is one in the napa area.
I went to Rose Hill Coin and Jewelry and Treasure Valley Coin Exchange today. Rose Hill is large and has a very large inventory, including currency and some bullion (not a large selection of bullion). Seems very "retail". I did buy an AU 1882-S Morgan with nice luster. I didn't feel like spending a lot of time browsing there. Just didn't feel welcoming. I liked Treasure Valley Coin Exchange better, though. Dan was very nice and I spent well over an hour there. Good selection of coins, including World, and a pretty big selection of currency and gold coins! He also has a big selection of "junk" silver in bins separated by type. I think his prices were pretty good, but I'm no expert. I spent $70 on a handful of coins, including silver and some pretty old world coins. Here's the shop (there's another wall of cases on each side that don't show in the picture. The second shows his gold selection...the entire top shelf of the case (including at least 20-25 Eagles and Double Eagles!). Photos taken with permission of the owner, Dan. Rob
Nice. I usually buy a coin from dan at the salt lake shows. He has been good to deal with and seems to have something for almost everyone.
