Was searching a roll of circulated 1960-D small dates I have had for a few years and found this one. I found a few others with filled in legs on R in Liberty and one with a filled in 6. But this one I kinda liked when I saw it so want your opinions. If this is mint damage I will keep it. It may be hard to tell, but there is a flap of metal over from the big gouge that would fit the gouge if it was bent over. There is a small lump of metal at the top between the R and U and another piece of metal at the bottom of the U. So check out the pics. I'll check later tonight to see what answers I get. Thanks!!

Looks like lamination, but what is over R U is hard to tell !

These seemed to sustain a lot of damage this year and other 60's coins, either in bank wrapped rolls or bagged. I have gone through many and very few end up worth keeping. If you look at the edge of the coin where you notice the chip at the R & U, you will also notice where the edge was damaged and the chip was pushed forward (damage, not an error). The scratches behind the larger chip also indicate the metal was pushed forward, also damage. And the smaller chip pushed up against the U also appears to have been set there from the larger damage below it. (Notice the gouge at the top of the larger damage) Uncirculated coins I have found with filled letters or numerals are usually die chips, which are minor errors.

I agree with deacon. It looks like a small lamination to me.

What's over the R and U is just a little chunk of metal. Thanks for the input!!
