1942 Proof Set In Original Box & Cellophane

    Here is something that you don't see very often. Most of these sets have been broken up and put in capital holders because the cellophane becomes brittle over the years and falls apart.

    Nice one, Matt! Is there any story behind it? How did you acquire it?

    Seeing how the package was postmarked May, 1942, I'm assuming that the "3/5" meant that this package was #3 of 5 packages in the shipment. It would have been really cool to have all 5.

    No, I couldn't open this one up... I have owned quite a few 40s and 30s proof sets... But never a completely original one.
