Just bought 10 rolls from a Jacksonville coin dealer. Can't wait to get them. Mint sealed and straight out of a 40 roll box. I bought them the night before the news came out nationwide so you could say I got them at a good price. Even if I don't find one it will be fun cherry picking through the rolls.
If they were mint sealed they would not be the same batch that came from the Federal Reserve. They are different wrappers and only dispersed to there clearing house after they have been rolled. The Fed Reserve rolls the coins they send to the banks encil:
The latest I am hearing on these coins is that there may be anywhere from 25,000 to potentially 400,000. I think it is still a little early to tell what these will be worth in the long run. I think they will be a collectible variety, but I am not sure how valuable they will be. I have seen a few selling in the low to mid $200 range, so the prices have slipped back a bit from the $400-$500 range. Also of note, be very careful if purchasing any of these, as I read on another board today some comments about a jeweler who was saying how easily they could fill the edges and remove the lettering on the dollar without altering the weight of the coin......just a heads up.
They are mostly Philadelphia coins found in the Florida but there have been a few reported in other areas of the country both Philly and Denver mints (So far the only way to tell the mint is by the other coins in the roll.)
