    YOC, I've considered what you said. And I'm sorry but what you said makes absolutely no sense.

    So according to you the dirt deposits chemically react to sulfur in exactly the same way as the bronze of the coin and so the dirt deposits and the bronze of the coin turn exactly the same color? Sorry no. Doesn't work that way. Different materials will react differently to sulfur and not all turn the same color.

    The "deposits" you're talking about, the ones that are the same color as the coin, are not deposits. They are corrosion of the coin. And so being made of the same material as the coin it's not surprising that they turned the same color as the coin. The dirt you see on the coin is something entirely different.
