Lost eBay coin found after over 1 year

So I just got a phone call from a fellow in Texas. He tells me that today he received a package from me that he won on December 13, 2013! He said the package was a little beat up, but in tact, and the coin (a 1857 seated quarter) was just fine. He confirmed my address and said he wanted to mail me a check tomorrow. What a nice guy!

As I understand it if USPS paid the insurance claim then it is their coin to sell. Either the new check should go to them or the insurance payout should be reimbursed.

I should have clarified further. It was never insured. It was a $60 sale. A case was never opened on me. I refunded him and had neither the coin nor the money, so it looks like I'm finally going to get some money for it.

 

In that case, good karma happens sometimes too.

Edit to add: I didn't mean anything derogatory towards C-B-D. Looking at my original post again I can see where it might have been taken that way. My apologies.

You might want to send him a "freebie" after you receive the check. Nothing major, but maybe a nice modern proof. I've had a couple sellers add modern proof pennies in with the shipment of the actual coin I purchased. Needless to say, I've saved those sellers.

Either way, nice to the decency from this buyer!

There under the able care of the USPS. Someone sure is taking a long time reading them before delivering them to their rightful owner, but they'll get there at some point....

Reminds me of the time I bought a harpoon book. It came from Canada and all was good, two weeks later I get the supplemental war game for it. 1982 Falklands 502. It was worth far and above what I bought, Larry Bond and Tom Clancy did not even have a copy. I was in shock. He said it went with what I bought. I pleaded to let me send more monies, he declined. Still, over 15 years later, at the top of my sellers list.
