Hi JA ... I think your new coin is very pretty (I sure hope the patina is legit ... oh, and I really hope that it doesn't drive you insane, thinking and rethinking the whole thingy until you're wildy scrubbing the coin with acetone, toothpicks and who knows what else?!!) => again, that coin looks very pretty (good luck, my friend ... yah, I hate hearing words like fake, smoothed, tooled, repatinaed ... is that even a word?) Curious? => did you drop a large amount on this sweet looking specimen, or is this one of you dude's infamous $20 scores?
Thank you RG and C71. BTW This is another falling horseman with a clear cut Desert patina, but surprisingly it has 3 die cracks, according to Dougsmit.
Although Holyland isn't anymore on the Vcoins list of stores, it's "canadian sister" Athena is still there. I've bought two or three coins from Salem (that was at the begining of his business) and have always been happy with them (even though they weren't cheap) Anyway, those falling horseman things are enjoyable. Here is mine and it's 6,33 grams : Constantius II, AE2 Alexandria mint, 1st officina D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, draped and pearl diademed bust right FEL TEMP RE PARATIO, fallen horseman, Gamma in field, ALEA at exergue 6.33 gr Ref : Cohen # 44, LRBC # 2836 Q

I like how that steve's soldier looks like he has leaped up off the ground and is coming down on the horeseman. Here's mine. Constantius II, AE Centenionalis, 350-355, Third Group, Antioch, Officina 11 D N CONSTAN_TIVS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right FEL TEMP RE_PARATIO Helmeted soldier standing left, shield on left arm, spearing fallen horseman, shield on ground at right, horseman is diademed and bearded and falls forward over neck of horse G in right field ANAI in exergue 21mm x 23mm, 4.74g RIC VIII, 135
Great detail tenacious. Again, it's coins like these I look for, even though I don't find many within my budget.
Wow => super coin!! (amazing details on that baby!) ... you can see the details on their clothing/armour (very cool example)
this coin has certainly been repatinated with sulphur..... the thick deposits have not been completely removed carefully or thoroughly enough over the TEMPRE lettering and then the sulphur applied which has darkened the deposits too.....doesnt look right...at all. sorry.
