1982 Quarter.....fake or real...someone please...help.....

    That quarter is as fake as the day is long.

    A fake 1982 quarter of that poor quality might be worth more than a real one to a collector that want's a good laugh.

    Definitely a counterfeit.

    Remember, if you try and sell a fake US coin you are breaking the law. This isn't China...

    It's legal to sell so long as it's not misrepresented. Making it is illegal even if you admit it's fake. It has to have "copy" right on it to be legal to produce.

    i wasnt tryin to sell it i was just wonderin how pleople couldhave time and patient tomake sumthin like this...
    i understand dollar billsbut coins.....then i have another one that its not magneticor nothin but on the side its not double color its just plain ...

    I don't think that's entirely accurate. It's illegal to try and pass on a counterfeit as a real piece...either in commerce or as a collectible. It's not illegal to possess it.

    That was back in 1999 and it was reported in Coin World as well as the regular news. They were rolls of 1999 quarters with the eagle reverse.

    I also have somewhere a 1974 counterfeit quarter made in a white metal alloy. Probably a zinc alloy. Well underweight, somewhere around 4 grams. I've also handled a 1974 nickel made of lead.

    I found this fake quarter here in NYC this week (12-12-14)

    Diameter: 0.96
    Thickness: 0.070
    Weight: 5 grams
