Hi, I just examined a 1990 Lincoln and found the coin to be DDO as well as DDR. The Double die is significant. The Lincoln is in a good state of condition. There is no die deterioration or MD. The DDO is strong on 1990, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse is DD as well in all Wording. I wanted to possibly know how much a coin like a DDO, DDR, 1990 Lincoln may be worth? Figuratively speaking, without inspection; to say the coin is authentic, Is this a significantly rare discovery? I did notice online that there was one discovered but the value is unknown to me. Any thought would be greatly appreciated
There is no doubling here. What you might be seeing is a slight shifting of the dies when they strike the planchet. Or lighting reflecting at a certain angle. Examine the coin from a few angles.
I apologize but I don't have the tool necessary to have clear pics. I looked at this coin and I clearly see doubled die all over the coin. I appreciate your efforts.
Your pictures are blurry but I can see enough to to say that it isn't a DD. Perhaps like ken said, it is MD or die deterioration doubling.
These pics is clear enough to see light and shadows. The devices look to be of the same dimensions as they were intended to be. The 1990p cent is on my search list and they are plentiful in my area. The 1990p DDO is a very rare piece, so much so that copper coins.com pulled their price listing on it because they cant determine its value. Very rare. So the 1990p is on almost everyone's pick list. How I wish I could say that I'm wrong but I don't see any sufficient doubling on your coin.
Another sign is that "ridge" that follows the contour of the rim. It's a sign of die detoriation and/or plating issue. I'm assuming that the die was not over polished after a die clash, because we would need a overall pic of the obverse. Over polishing tends to dig into the devices also.
I have the same issues with my 1990 d .And I can see some Md or D deterioration but also I clearly see doubling on some letters on both sides .And I use a eye piece from a medical microscope that works superb for me...But my pictures won't do it justice as well.
