That's easy. This 1833 B1 LDS capped bust quarter. I love the toning and the effects of the pitted and clashed dies.
Such fine collections! I sure wish I had started collecting coins rather than firearms over fifty years in the past. Got into coin collecting through the death of my wife's father and like the VILLAGE IDIOT that I am, I sold off many of the fine coins that he had spent years collecting...dumber than dumb is me.
I haven't bought as many coins as usual this year. I'm hitting the point in my collection where the coins I need are getting more expensive, and more rare. I have a few favorites this year, but this might be one of the top:
I didn't do a lot of spending on coins this year. I had shoulder surgery in Nov. 2013 and spent 5 months recovering. Then the bills came. I did make a nice buy on this 1921 Peace Dollar. I had been wanting one for years but just couldn't justify. Finally I had the funds from selling a Foreign bank note on eBay bay for $310. The note cost me nothing. I decided to celebrate by splurging with the free money. Hospital bills had to wait, this was hobby money not house budget money.
Very tough for me to choose. I purchased my first gold coin this year, so I'll choose this as my favorite. It is an orange gold Sovereign from the Newman Collection.
Here are a few from 2014 - Dreck in comparison to some beauties in this thread, particularly that gorgeous gold Turban head. Sorry for taking us so much space.
Hmmm, tough call. I'd probably go with either the 1820 MS-62 Large Cent I picked up as a graduation present, or the 1807 Half Dollar I bought from mainebill a few months back.
Definitely my favorite for the year and currently in for reconsideration. Told them to crack it if, and only if,it DCAM's.
Not my best photo but my favourite, an 1872 Newfoundland - Two Hundred Cent/ One Hundred Pence/ Two Dollars - gold coin, one of only 6,000 minted for circulation.
Honestly I probably bought a couple hundred coins this last year some just scrap a lot to sell but a lot for me that proof trade was one of about 10 trade dollars I bought. Here's probably my second favorite of the year. My 1850 seated dollar and my 1877 proof trade from lost Dutchman are right up there as is my toned 1877 cc quarter I just bought off trey
