You know, I'm very familiar with receiving coins with great pics and totally different coins in hand.

Nice coin, but $4000 - yikes!

I don't think the price is all that out of line. I would have bought it around $3100 without thinking twice

You know when I first saw the listing I looked at coinfacts and saw the Pcgs 61 in the 2-2600 range. But now when I look with intent to buy I saw the Ngc range in the 1700's. If it was a Pcgs holder I would email the guy a reasonable offer but in a Ngc holder I would be a buyer around 2300-2500 max.

Not to mention these have been steadily falling in value... along with a ton of other key date lincolns.

I personally feel like everywhere I look these days the coin market is 'soft'. It's awesome for me, looks like coins are trending down a bit and I can score some nice coins for good prices.

When I buy I typically look at where the market is today, not where it is trending.

The obverse spots bother me, I'd look for another.

DDO coins are hunting for $$$ IMO. Market correction? You betcha! If GS is around $1700 in MS60 I would be very leery buying in 61 above $2K. The color though looks unique. CAC try?

That no-line fattie has a bar code -- so it's an NGC-5, not an NGC 4. It was first issued in 1992 and was used up to as late as 1995 (according to Conder101).

I still agree with your other assessments though. ;)

I've bought from him before too. He has a 14 day return policy and I've never been disappointed, but his pictures do highlight the toning. It'd be nice if he had several pictures with different angles.

I agree with this for moderns and "rarities" within those series. The fact is that there are more than enough high grade 55 DDs to go around.

I don't know about that. The Pcgs population is way less for 55dd then 09svdbs

Not all coins are, should be or need to be slabbed.

There are also a lot more buyers for 09svdbs, too. Either coin, though, at current prices there appear to be more sellers than buyers.

I find that the color makes it hard to focus on the doubling. Also the black spots from where someone slobbered on it are detracting to me.
But who am I to criticize? I don't own one.

Is that a good thing or a bid thing? ;)
