Which reverse? Looks a lot like this one: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=2009&die_id=2009d1do001&die_state=mds
Yes that's it the "presidential reverse". The 2 of the date is swollen at the top, RTY of Liberty match. The IGWT might be die deterioration. I don't have the scratch or separation or whatever on the eyebrow though.
It is different. IGWT on mine is notched and doubled. None of the others I've seen have that. Do you think IGWT is die deterioration?
Tom, how are you viewing these coins? If it is with a USB microscope, with LEDs that don't turn off, these sometimes cause notches to be present that aren't really there. I call it "light tricks". I have one. I've seen it happen.
Yes I have one. Depending on how I turn it it can change the whole look of the coin. I took a ring or washer I cut out of translucent plastic then wrapped celophane tape around it and it fits snugly inside. It has a hole about the size of the lens. It blocks a lot of the LED's intensity. It's good for shiny coins but it is still hard to see what is reflection and what is actual doubling, or, notching. On this coin GOD, and wE, trUSt are doubled. It's very prominent. I'll take more close in shots today.
There are so many bag marks and pre-die crack impressions on these (eye area) that it's really hard to tell sometimes and this is through all four of the diff. cents for 2009.
I tell you what. Edit: No discussion or offers B/S/T out of the advertising subforms. I've found 10 or so of those. I'll take a chance. If you want to, send me a Conversation. http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=2013&die_id=2013p1do005&die_state=eds I call it "the field goal", the die chip on the reverse splits the U like a field goal.
I found another 2009D presidential cent roll hunting and put it aside for comparison. I looked and they both had the fat nine skinny topped 0's and bulge at the top of the 2. They both have the wide T, and Y of liberty. So I thought they all have that, so mine are just normal. I looked online at a normal one and it didn't have the features. I found 2. So crazy.
They are similar but slightly different. I've got to figure out what I have... These are pics of the second one.
Sorry mods. I didn't think two guys trading two cents, that aren't worth much more than a cent, warranted the buy/sell/trade sub forum. Nevermind. Why don't the people that say, "I'd go $100" get edited? I guess because it wasn't, "I'd go $0.01." Funny.
I'm not offering anything for sale... I'm here to collect and ask opinions. I did put the wrong pics in the post above though. Here are the real pics of the second one..
So nuts, here I am comparing one DDO to another DDO that I picked up the same day and convincing myself that was the normal date.
It was me, not you. I thought you had given up & offered a trade of a 2013P-1DO-005 for the 2009-D. I broke the rules, not you.
Sorry for any misunderstanding. I found the first one but like an idiot I posted it before looking online to find it. I was roll hunting the next day and found another presidential reverse so I set it aside for comparison. Later I looked and photographed them both. The date and Liberty matched! Then I thought maybe that's how they made the 2 for that die, like the 1982 small date with the bulge on the top curve. So I'm like "I got nothing here". Then no one else chimed in and I finally looked up a pic of the "normal" obverse for that date and it became clear I found 2 of these 2009D 1DO-001 cents. What are the odds on that? must be better than me finding something REALLY nice. Nonetheless a cool cool addition to my small but growing collection.
