Is it rare to find a buffalo nickel? I have decided to start a video crh log. What do you think of the idea?

It's pretty rare to find a buff, I went through $150 and never found anything, one war nickel though.

I have found a few hundred of them over the years, not quite as common as war nickels and mostly dateless. But I have found some early dates and mintmarks though. I go through a tonne of coins every week though. Now I am buried in stuff from two credit union branches that will take me through the weekend to go through.

I don't really do nickels, though I do thousands of dollars in dimes a week, I average 1 or 2 silver a box. I can search a box in 20 minutes, I just look at the edges.

My son and I have found 133 so far in roll searching. I'd say we average one in every three boxes or so.

Thank you I did not know it is that different for the person. I guess it is the luck of the box

I do too, but the only problem I have found with that method is you can miss some proofs and stuff like the Panamanian coins etc that occasionally turn up.

Cool find. Seeing descriptive videos is a nice change of seen from just the usual photos that are typically posted.
