Found two of these today while roll hunting. Each has the following markers and I'm trying to match with a possible Wexler Doubled Die. If anyone thinks this is possible please let me know, based on these markers what I should be looking for in addition, such as obverse markers. No photo for the obverse as I'm not sure it would be good enough to see here. What do you think? Thanks for any help. Die chips at left shoulder and the split in the log , both large, die crack from right of log to rim, very prominent, obverse has die cracks at forehead, in the hair and at bow tie and nose .
I can't see any doubling with a 30X magnifier at this point and don't think I can get a better picture either on my scanner. The doubling would no doubt be at some of the letters, ob. or rev. I just can't make out the letters better with these old eyes. If I knew what to look for on the lettering I could use my 200X stereoscope but I have no way to photograph from that. Thanks.
The only doubling I know of for the FYs shows up on the hand. I don't know of any that effects the lettering. I see a lot die cracks in that area from the rim to the log.
There is a list of the obverse doubled dies at the Wexler site, in fact all of the doubled dies including proof issues from 2009, very comprehensive but very confusing when trying to match die markers with the actual D/D.
