I'm confused about these coins in a general way and I will use this one as an example: ROMAN REPUBLIC, C CALPURNIUS PISO L F FRUGI 67 BC AR DENARIUS Obv: head of Apollo right, hair tied with a band, M to leftÊ Rev., a naked horseman galloping right,, C PISO L F FRV below, XV RCV 348; RRC 408/1a; Calpurnia 24ff. some scratches, toned Good Very fine. ( 18 mm , 3.8 Gm ) I know that Frugi was a patrician family and there were a lot of Piso Frugis, or men with the same name. My question is why is this particular name on this coin? What was the process?
