Not new to coin collecting, but let's just say I am re-interested in numismatics, since my coin collection has been abandoned for about 11 years. Just got re-interested in July with the purchase of some pretty banknotes. Found this in my childhood coin collection, and was wondering...what the hell happened to it? Is it damage from life, or did it get damaged in the mint? It's a plain 1939 wheat Lincoln cent.
The replies will be PMD which stands for Post Mint Damage, which means it happened after striking. Welcome to CT
Started when I was 9 I think? Quit by 11 or 12. I'm 22 now. It's sat around since then gathering dust in the basement. Just a bunch of random coins I like. I collect what I like or whatever random stuff family members give to me, I don't do it for value. This is ye' olde coinbox:
Unless you you've got a dehumidifier in the basement, I'd get those coins out of that environment. Coins like cool dry areas of the house. And welcome to Coin Talk dear fellow.........
Don't worry, it is cool and dry. It's a finished basement w/ pile carpeting. (Finished in 1979, but finished nonetheless.) No water leakage.
