Is this another Washington Doll error? Or is it a variety? I do not know if anyone else has mentioned this. The position of the date and motto are not always in the same alignment. On some coins 2007 is directly under 1789 and on other coins in God we trust is under it. That’s only 2 examples.
There have been numerous posts about the fact that the coins are struck in the normal manner, and then sent to another machine for edge lettering. Since they are randomly fed into the edge machine, there is no standard alignment, and if the edge lettering is complete, without doubling or dropped letters, there is no error on the edge.
