Well, I must love these Ionia examples, for I probably have at least twenty of 'em!!

... but in this particular case, I've randomly scored myself a 3rd example of an Ionia "Miletos" coin from the third and/or fourth century BC ...

I think that these examples are very cool ... and my latest example is apparently quite a catch ... I hope that you like it (all of 'em)

    Cheers

    Ionia, Miletos AE10
    4th century BC
    Diameter: 10.1 mm
    Weight: 2.2 grams
Obverse: Lion walking left, head forward; monogram in front, ΑΛΙ above.
    Reverse: Star
References: Ashton and Kinns, 2003: 6, pl. 1B

Characteristics: According to Kinns, these coins with lion facing forward predates those with head turned and are the "earliest inscribed coins from Miletos". Only 2 others known to him

    ... so fricken cool ...

Very cool! Particularly the star reverse... I just bought myself a Greek bronze with a star reverse as well, but not from Miletos or even Ionia. Hoping it arrives before the end of the year.

Thanks Z-bro ... yah, I like the way that my three examples all kinda fit into each other (very cool) ... they all seem to work in "coin-harmony"

    ;)

Thanks man => yah, like I've stated before, I seem to swoop-in and buy-up a few different coin denominations from an area that interests me (so, apparently Ionia Miletos is an area of interest!!)

    Cheers

Not sure why you can't. I have no problem. As an alternate type in your search engine "coins of Ionia Miletos". This should give you several links including the one I posted above.

    => it's working now ...

Thanks for the link (I didn't see any examples like my new baby ... none with the "Lion facing "forward")

    TIF Always learning.

?? Its head is facing left, as far as I can tell. Not to dis your new baby though. It's adorable. :)

Edited: Oh, I see what they mean. Usually the head is reverted. I mistook "forward" for "facing".
