Fox News has said the US Mint told them the nunber is about 50,000 error coins.First E-Bay prices were $600.00 now $40-50.QC is now in full force says the mint.OK sure
Mint says 50,000 at least. Here is a little from the mint Bailey said it was unknown how many coins lacked the inscriptions. Ron Guth, president of Professional Coin Grading Service, one of the world's largest coin authentication companies, said he believes that at least 50,000 error coins were put in circulation. ``The first one sold for $600 before everyone knew how common they actually were,'' he said. ``They're going for around $40 to $60 on eBay now, and they'll probably settle in the $50 range.'' link http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,,-6464485,00.html
missing words on the rim i got two rolls and i don't want to open it. i hope i got 50 pieces of missing words on the rim.
If you want to sell it and make money, now's the time to do it while the fools are buying high. You can always rebuy them later at a lower price. They are going for more today.
I have a feeling that these with nothing on the rim are going to be very scarce..I don't think there are a whole lot of these. They have only been found in one small area in Florida. I bought one on ebay last night for $67. Now i see them for as high as $430. tonite.
The one I got for $80 arrived today, and it is the one with die fatigue and a clashed die, this will be the really rare issue. I am excited.
Here's a link to my completed auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=160090356296&rd=1&rd=1
Proper handling of unopened rolls Hi Folks, I bought several rolls of these coins, but if I open can I sell later for uncirculated? What is best way to handle and store these if I should open and if I should not? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I don't care if there are only a half-dozen out there, with the weakly-struck rims these could easily be faked...
Lol...this is getting silly.....an error coin worth LESS than the normal one...no, that will never happen. The only example I can think of is the 1681 English crown with the QVRRTO legend (instead of QVARTO), which is worth $50 less than the non-error coin in F !!! Oh well, lets have another 1681 QVRRTO crown then...l!
Well aren't you the big spender! Just think, though, in another month, this is going to start up all over again. It's going to be like periodic insanity, every three months, for the next ten years! :rolling:
