well, i said i was going to retire ol' gnarly, but here's one more pic. i usually keep recent coins on the table and play with them for a while. i just took a pick of everything sitting there, kind of an interesting group. the ancient silver and the ptolemy i've posted before, iv'e had them for a while. i'll post the rest later. the morgan silver dollar belonged to my mother. here's a caracalla provincial from serdica thrace. a bit beat up, but for less that 15 bucks shipped i couldn't say no. i love the little cupid riding the dolphin! caracalla serdica, thrace (current day sofia, hungary) 211-217 AD o:caracalla right r: eros (or genius?) riding dolphin anyone know what the legends are? i moushmov 4850 18mm 3.4 g this must be a somewhat rare coin, i couldn't find many of exactly this type online. there is one on vcoins for sale for steep price (in not much better shape). the only other one i found a pic of was the moushmov plate pic on wildwinds.
are they from serdica bing? i found a few from hadrianopolis, a very similar but slight smaller coin.
Yup, good ol' Gnarly ...... man, like an ol' bull being put out to pasture (salute to you, my sturdy ol' friend) => cheers to Gnarly!!!
