new provincial and the coins on ol' gnarly

    well, i said i was going to retire ol' gnarly, but here's one more pic. i usually keep recent coins on the table and play with them for a while. i just took a pick of everything sitting there, kind of an interesting group.

    the ancient silver and the ptolemy i've posted before, iv'e had them for a while. i'll post the rest later. the morgan silver dollar belonged to my mother.

    here's a caracalla provincial from serdica thrace. a bit beat up, but for less that 15 bucks shipped i couldn't say no. i love the little cupid riding the dolphin!

    this must be a somewhat rare coin, i couldn't find many of exactly this type online. there is one on vcoins for sale for steep price (in not much better shape). the only other one i found a pic of was the moushmov plate pic on wildwinds.

    are they from serdica bing? i found a few from hadrianopolis, a very similar but slight smaller coin.

    Nice coins! I do the same thing - pull out a dozen coins, set them on the table and examine them.
