OK I'll bite. Why is this not a 1926 quarter eagle?

    My apology

    In my haste and thru uncleansed specs I posted a 1926 QE $2.5 and listed it as a 1925. Sorry!I am reposting the 1926 $2.5 Q E and also 1911 $5 QE.
Question? Since I don't know the authenticity of each are these candidates for certification ?Thanks,Joe

Nice coin. Couldn't tell you if it is authentic or not though. Did you buy it or inherit it or something? Sorry for being nosey.

Joe the pics are too small to be able to tell much - can you post larger pics ?

    try again

I don't know the authenticity of these .Would it be wise to consider a certification service? There are no shows scheduled in my area and have not yet learned of any trusted shops . Would any care to recommend a shop in my area?I am about 40 miles north of West Palm Beach and about 50 miles south of Vero Beach on the east coast.

    1926,1911 Quarter Eagles

    OK.
Both coins were inherited as part of a unorganized snuff box of about 10 mixed less interesting coins.Any other coins I have are from pocket change or from roll searches and a few purchases from the mint.I am retired and now trying to get a better understanding of collecting and also trying to organize ..which is not easy for this procrastinator. No problem about asking questions>Joe

Is there a letter Omega on them? If there is,then it is a contemporary forgery that is also struck of good gold as well.

Easy, anyplace you see a member's name, just click on it. That will open a small window giving you a list of choices of things to to. Then just click on the one that says Send a PM to so and so. That will open the PM window, once there just type the member's name into the address line, type your message into the box below and click on send.

If you can't find the member's name anywhere, you can do a search for it, or you can click on the link at the top of any page titled Quick Links, down near the bottom it says Member List, click on that. Then just go to the member's name you are looking for and follow the above instructions.

The omega letter is a greek letter (helps having been in a fraternity in college). It kinda looks like a horseshoe standing up. Or imagine a capital letter U, upside down with little feet sticking out to hold up the letter.

The omega symbol looks like a horseshoe. I am under the impression that the only omega counterfeits out there are one year of 3 dollar gold, as well as the high relief saint gaudens. What I would look for on these is tooling at the base of the neck, evidence of the coin being struck through thread (this does appear on genuine coins from time to time). From the pictures it is impossible to discern their authenticity.
