What is your opinion on the following metal detector: http://www.cascadegps.com/store/product.php?productid=1152 How good is it?
http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&search_query=metal+det http://www.walmart.com/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&search_query=metal+detector i recommend the bounty hunter pioneer 202 for $198. thats what i have. i just don't think those cheap plastic ones will find you anything. or, just go to www.walmart.com and type in the words metal detector. i don't think the link is working.
Kind of depends on how deep you want to go, amount and type of ground your searching, how much you want to spend, etc. Also, I don't like adds like that one where you have to search for a price. I noticed they said you have to add it to your cart to find out how much it will cost. Bet it's from China, made of plastic, wouldn't work well or at all, you pay for shipping and handling and same if you return the thing. As someone already said, try Walmart.
I bought a Bounty Hunter for my son and it was OK, but if you want a depenable matal detector go with a White's. The bounty hunter is good for the beginer but if you are serious about finding the good stuff go with a White detector.
I'm a Garrett man with a GTI 2500. It has more bells and whistles that I'm still figuring out, LOL... A good beginner detector would be a Garrett Treasure Ace 250. Take Care Ben
I would save the $50 and buy better. Most of the low end Bounty Hunter(including Wal-mart, Cabellas, etc.) stuff is little better that toys when compaired to the Big boys.(Garrett,Tesoro, Whites, etc.)
well, my bounty hunter is doing pretty good. i just went metal detecting sunday and found a 1979 quarter, 1974 dime, and a 1975 cent. i went to the place i went to when i found the wheat cent. its a really old house that was abondoned in the early 90's. my friend found a 1989 cent and a 1968 dime. not too bad for him having a kid's detector!
Last year with my Garrett and Tesoro I found.... Totals coins 5055 The clad... Mem cents 2416 Nickels 653 Dimes 1106 Quarters 644 Ken Half 1 SBA's 2 Sackies 3 Canadian cents 128 " nickels 5 " Dime 1 " Quarter 5 Other foreign 3 Good Stuff.... Wheaties 70 No Date Buff 1 War Nickel 1 V nickel 1 (oldest find of the year 1911) Silver Rosies 4 Mercs 5 Silver Washers 5 Canadian Silver quarter 1 Plus some gold and silver jewelry. The "Good" stuff is deeper.
detector It sounds like you paid for the machine! Here in Florida on the east coast there are many beaches to cover and some walking could keep the LDL down and the HDL up..Can you suggest some literature that addresses detecting not only at beaches but other suggested areas. How about suggestions where to buy better detectors how much to pay for one.My problem is that when I get to the beach I like to fish....I guess I could search when fishing is slow. Thanks, Joe
Joe: Try subscribing to Lost Treasure and Western & Eastern Treasures. Also, a good reference is the Urban Treasure Hunter, by Michael Chaplin, published by Square One Publishing. Lots of good info there. Good luck. Frank
Theres tons of detecting forums with all the info you need. A couple that come to mind are mytreasurespot.com and the treasuredepot.com. Another great magazine for tips and info is American Digger.
I haven't been out yet this year and I do work 40 plus hours a week. Its what I do in my spare time for fun, exercize and relaxation. Its just a fact that a good machine with an experianced operator will find more and deeper stuff. Theres a reason some machines are $150 and others are $450 or more.
thats why i detect. its fun and relaxing. you can't get that thrill of getting a good clear coin tone anywhere but detecting.
