this is my last thread today, as i have too many toi keep up with here is a 1911 gold piece straight from grandpa's treasure chest http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/000_0011_0001.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/000_0012_0001.jpg
Around $300 - that's a guess because we can't see the coins well enough to grade them and provide a more accurate estimate.
In "TIP TOP" shape, like MS-65, your coin could be worth over $20,000. I don't think its anywhere close to that high though. I think some better pictures would be neccessary to give your coin a grade that is close to being accurate.
thanks adam. im going to take some new pics today and submit them here. is NGC a reputable company to have my coins graded/appraised?
more pics tried to take some better pics. what do you guys think? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/5dollar.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/5dollar1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/5dollar2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/5dollar3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/5dollar4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/5dollar5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/EDDIEVRULZ/000_0002-1.jpg
I'd say about $360. I'm no good at grading gold though. As for your other question, NGC and PCGS are usually considered the two most reputable grading services.
I'll stick with my original estimate. And save your money, don't bother sending the coin in to be slabbed by NGC - it'll come back in a body bag and not be slabbed. But you will be out the fees anyway.
EDDIEVRULZ,Nice coin.I POSTED A SIMILAR PIECE :1911 $5QUATER EAGLE TODAY ...WELL i GUESS iT IS NOW YESTERDAY...i ALSO POSTED A$ 1926 2.5 QE .I would be really interested in your decision results to certify since my coin appears to be of similar quality. My posted images are done with a scanner since I have yet learned how to use my digital camera for for shots.I see you used photobucket.FLA_JOE
hey, how did you caprture the shine? mine look shiny like that and i cant seem to do it. oh well. dont wait for a decision from me on what im going to do. im below a rookie when it comes t coins. i dont know much about them. (learned a lot in the last few days) i probably wont certify them as i didnt really have any plans to sell them. if someone would have told me they were worth a good amount of money, i prolly would, but if they are just a couple hundred bucks, im not worried about it. ill just put em in the safe and my kids can have them. i do like your coins though!
