I was doing a little light cleaning today and I noticed that the dust under my copy stand was getting a little thick so I moved it in order to remove the dust and to my surprise, look what was hiding underneath! I guess I moved my record of the coin to the "sold" section after I misplaced it. You know you have too many coins when you start losing them under your copy stand, LOL!
Very pretty. I try to keep excellent records, and don't think I've ever lost a coin before, but when my collection was pushing 200 coins, I was starting to think it was possible. Downsizing to around 78 coins helped a lot.
Nope, no such thing as too many coins. I have found ancients literally everywhere in my house, having no idea how they got there. Still, not "too many". Geek, downsizing to 78 coins? Man that is not even a red box full, (not slabbed). How do you live with so few coins around? Heck, I have to have at least 20-30 at my desk at work to look at when I feel like it.
I'm very tedious about my record keeping and storage. Never lost a coin but thought I had once. Turns out it was in the proper location and I just interpreted my records incorrectly.
And I don't keep ANY in my desk. Really it was about recycling money from many lesser coins, into fewer coins that make up a nice Type set. For instance, I recently exchanged 69 coins for a single gold CAC type coin! When I get into ancients, there will be a lot more touchy-feely coins laying around.
Yep, I've got one missing that I know of. A black Sheppard AFB good for $0.10 token. I remember opening it and seeing it and now I can't find it.
I too keep accurate records, but I also have those moments when I won't remember buying a particular coin. It's either age or I need to slow down in my collecting.
My work space isn't exactly dust free, but I can honestly say it's never been thick enough to lose a slabbed coin under.
Several years ago I got a reminder from someone on the PCGS boards that I owed him a check for a coin he had sent on approval. I got to looking around--I was sure I had sent it--and looked under my desk. There was the check--along with 2 bust halves and a seated quarter. When I picked them up one would have thought that I had stolen one of my cat's kittens the way she reacted!!! That was HER collection--not mine! I knew she had a warm spot below my desk near the computer, and I really didn't mind the fact that she was always underfoot, but when she started hiding my coins that was going to far! Or so I thought at the time. Cuddles died last winter and I sure wish she was still around stealing my coins.
My better coins are (usually) in the safe. My other coins are here there and everywhere in the house. I got a lot of stuff I don't know where it is where it came from etc. records? What are they? The stuff I pay by bank transfer and check I can usually remember cash not do much. And I often buy big lots of stuff is not just coins I'm like that with. I have 2 businesses no time and way to much stuff to keep track of
