Unscientific look at who's collecting coins these days.

I'm 36 and started at 12, went hard till college, then started back up in 2010 after dusting off my childhood collection, which I luckily still had intact.

 

27, I have collected coins all my little life, slowed down a bit for a few years in college, and hit it hard again about 4-5 years ago.

I am active in my local coin club, I attend local shows, and I participate here on this forum.

 

Born in 1963, first got interested at age 5 or 6 when my older brother was interested. Active on and off through high school, stopped paying attention right before the Hunt Brothers silver run-up -- I still sort of regret missing the opportunity to sell my junk silver into that run; wasn't much, but that money could've been useful to a college student. Got re-interested as a result of a couple of coincidences around 2009-2010, and I've been pretty active since then.

 

I've been collecting since 1957. I was young but older than 1.

My first set was buffalo nickels, most of which came out of pocket change. I'm still nuts about pocket change and moreso now than ever before.

 

64. Got a couple wheat penny folders from my dad when he died ca. 1990, began seriously collecting modern coins about 4 years ago. Go to local show couple times in last year, otherwise cruise ebay on regular basis.

 

I'm 28. I started collecting about 2 years ago.

 

56. Started when I was about 15. Took a long break for college, career building, and child rearing. Got back at it about two years ago. Working hard on uncirculated sets of moderns (yes, ripping apart those mint sets!) along with some dabbling in other older series.

 

17, started collecting 5-ish years ago...

33. Started as a kid with wheats and bicentennials. Only in the past 5 years have I has the money to do it for real.

 

I'm 16, started when i was 6

 

38 collecting since around 6 got real serious again about 5 years ago and finally (sorta) got the money to collect at the level I want

 

64. Saw an awful lot of young folks at this past January FUN show......

 

Born in 1948 and started collecting in 1954. Been at it for 60 years now. Enjoyed every minute of it.
