Hello I'm hoping someone can help. My husband has recently been passed down a box of coins and medals, and inside we found this Swedish Krona with part of the date missing. Today we took it to a coin dealer and he told us that the coin is from 1973 and it is indeed a genuine misprint, and that he had never seen this before with this particular coin. I was wondering if anyone could help us get a little more information about it, or whether anyone else has had Swedish coins with misprints? Sorry about the quality of photo. I'm happy to get them scanned in if anyone wants to get a closer look. Thank you!
Coin is misstruck not misprinted. Filled die error. I couldn't tell how rare that is or what kind of premium it would bring, but my guess is not a lot.
Yes, grease filled die. Grease from the lubrication of the press and planchets has filled the 7 on the de so it didn't strike up on the coin. Unfortunately as a rule grase filled die errors typically do not command much if any premium.
