Oh my gosh. What a beauty. I like how it has some considerable relief in the design, especially the reverse. And it's such a remarkable design. So much going on and so awe inspiring in such a little space! I have a worn down example, probably in VG or F and it still is a beauty to look at. If you don't mind, what does a mint state specimen run for? I would imagine at least 100-200
Pretty close, 150 to 300 for a nice one dated 1914, 1915 or 1916. The 1917 is more expensive and typically has tone. I collect this series too, I'm still missing the 1917, I'm holding-out for a white one .
=> yah, they're copies of ancients!! => oh but yah, those coins of yours are gorgeous => super examples, fellas!! (yummy)
Thanks and Quadriga Briosa(spelled it incorrectly earlier) is just how you say a four horse chariot in Italian. It's also how the coin is know in most reference books
Not to be confused with the economy model chariot which only had two horses, also known as a "biga". Or a "trigarium" which is chariot with 3 horses...,, Uh oh, I'm beginning to sound like one of them ancients collectors(!)
Yah, I realize that I've stepped over the dividing-line into the "World" coin forum, but I couldn't help myself after hearing quadriga and biga being tossed-around in conversation ... => here are a couple of sweet examples to hammer-home the ol' biga-concept: A biga of oxen A biga of horses A biga of stags ... *we now return to our regular programming* ...
As said before, I don't collect many non-US coins, but I love the Celebrate Australia series. These are the ANDA coin show specials, with mintages of 2500. Thank you, Talisman coins for this beauty!!
just waiting on the payment to clear and my coin dream will be realized. A PCGS AU-58 1832 10 centimes Belgium coin. so happy right now.... I am almost misty. this is my dream coin. doing happy coin dance now. I have watched this coin on Ebay for 1 year.
Congrats! Why is this one so special? Rarity, price paid, grade, something else? I don't know the piece at all, what's the background in it?
Never fully trust Krause for value but great for info. Belgium 1832 10 centimes is the 1st year issue, mintage of 993,000 and listed at $400 in XF, $550 in UNC. Now as to why it's the holy grail for Spirityoda, I'd also like to know. Whatever the reason, congrats on finally getting it and it's a great example.
nice date in rare grade. good price $349.00 this denomination is hard to find in better grades. I wanted this grade for a long time. will wait even longer for a MS grade. this is not even my highest valued coin either. some will understand that. there's nothing like getting the coin you've loved for years and years. greatest feeling ever.
this coin calls to me. "buy me buy me" lol I really like the design. my 5 centimes is MS-64 RB and is the King of my collection, but this 10 centimes is bigger. the lion is very majestic...I am very drawn to it. I have also waited 10 years for a nice graded 1.
That coin is nicely designed (I have one too) but really difficult to photograph. Primarily but not only due to the latent image in the center ... Christian
