Sometimes I think this place is a lot worse than people hear about. It's just Chicago. Windows and doors with bars. One person I know with a buisness has a steel door, buglar alarmed and still got busted into. Always odd how the police show up many, many hours to late around here. Not many people go our at night for long walks in the parks here either.
And bruce 1947 it may well be what is in the coffee.
This is a sorta, kinda a coin club. Your right.

Wow....must be pretty bad there. Ive never been anywhere in Chicago except the airport, I thought that was bad enough. It's a crying shame the way our world has become.

Jerome,if you live in Great Britain, you could join the Royal Numismatic Society,or if you have an interest in banknotes, there's also the International Bank Note Society's London chapter.

I belong to following national clubs:

    CSNA (California State Numismatic Association)
NASC (Numismatic Association of Southern California)
    ONS (Oriental Numismatic Society)
    SAN (Society for Ancient Numismatics)
    WINS (World Internet Numismatic Society)

Also, I am member of couple of local clubs here which are
    * Whittier Coin Club (Some famous fellow club members are David Bowers, Sol Taylor to name a few)
    * Greater Orange County Coin Club (A very active local coin club; members are several well known collectors including president and few graders from PCGS)
    * Orange County Ancient Coin Club (A small group of nice collectors and many of them contribute in 'The Celator' regularly)

And I wanted to join ANA, but I disagree with some of there policies and I personally feel that those are not good for the hobby on a long run. So, I decided NOT to join ANA.

Why dont you put an ad in your local paper and start a coin club for your area. Just find a bank or a community center or similar meeting place and get permission to hold meetings once a month then advertise your coin club meetings. There may only be a few people interested in the beginning but membership will eventually grow. Thats what I would do. Heck, I may do that myself soon. Obviously, this local club here must only be for the towns elite because they still havent attempted to contact me. :rolling:

I went to college in cold, old Rochester.
I never got to join the city club, but attended a single coin show on campus at RIT back around 1980.
These days I'm in the Greater Houston Coin Club.
