Are these presidential dollars that are on ebay with smooth rims for real? It seems that some got into circulation in Florida. True or fake?
They're real. I've found around 300 of them.....but they seem to have all been distributed now. No new ones are being discovered....
I guess you could buff the letters off, but the 3 I found are genuine, and on eBay now. I opened the roll and ran through the house shouting "I've struck gold, I've struck gold". The only reaction I got was "DORK!" Rosko
is the mint recalling the error rolls from banks or are they just going to "learn from thier mistakes" ?
Hey Rosko. Looks like your gold is starting to tarnish! LOL. The plumeting prices on ebay seem to be an indicator that people are now realizing these are turning out to be pretty common. I feel sorry for the people that dished out hundreds of dollars for one of these.
A well known Error dealer has said that he puts the number of No Edge Lettering at around 1 million coins total. Speedy
Sure you could. But go ahead and try, and then put a glass on the edge and notice how different the edge of the altered coin looks compared to a realplain edge coin. It will be obvious.
Which Washington Dollar will be more rare......the ones WITH the lettering OR the Dollars WITHOUT the lettering?!?!? The Mint should get a better QC department! swick
Someone forgot to tell a few Mint employees that these coins were to have edge lettering is all. Either that or they ran out of time making them and skipped the last step.
It sounds like he is trying to deflate prices. I do not agree with that figure at ALL. I believe it is MUCH less than 1 million coins..... -Paul
I am thinking here that the errors will out number the correct ones when its all said and done. I have been finding the ones with extra letters and numbers around the rim on a regular basis. Spending everyone of them too. I still say they are Bugly.
