While I'm not asking so I can buy, I would like to know something about how you think as a dealer 1. If I walked into your (any) store to sell this what do you think a fair offer would be ? 2. What would you take for this coin if it was white? 3. What would you take for this coin as is? 4. How much specific dollar value do you think the cac adds?
I'll do my best to answer this while keeping in mind the forum rules. This exact coin sold at Heritage in 2012. http://coins.ha.com/itm/seated-half-dollars/half-dollars/1883-50c-pr67-pcgs-cac/a/1174-4598.s I paid in the high 4 digits for the coin as I don't think it's likely to bring that price again at auction. If this coin was white. I think it would sell around $8500. On coins like this piece the CAC sticker really does add the value. There are so many over graded and ugly examples out there in this series. This is the only 67 that has received the CAC sticker from either grading company. If you have other more specific questions feel free to PM me but I can't discuss them here in accordance with the forum rules.
The gentleman who sold us this coin owns 3 of the 5 graded PF68s of any date in PCGS holders. They are truly stunning.
