NGC is not alone - it seems that all of the Third Party Grading Companies are willing to pimp themselves out.

What ever happened to just establishing a reputations of being a good “Grading Company”?

I have to take issue with your language. They are whoring themselves. You pimp others, You whore yourself.

that slab looks terrible. I would not buy it if it had the pawn stars on it. they would triple the price just to have their ugly mugs on it.

As for "What ever happened to just establishing a reputations of being a good “Grading Company”?

Simple. Being a Public Company that has stock holders which need dividends from "profits".

NGC isn't a Public Company with stock holders.

PCGS, yes; NGC is privately held.

Regardless, I wouldn't take one of those Pawn Stars coins if you offered it to me at issue price.

I don't like all these new labels either. I prefer NGC to PCGS for my own reasons, but seeing all these marketing labels cheapens the brand a little in my eyes.

Even a privately held company has at least one stockholder and wants to make as much profit as possible.

They may not be publicly owned, but they DO have shareholders.

I did not know this. But then it makes sense since NGC's grading prices are cheaper and more in line with collector needs such as submission capabilities for ANA Members.

It reminds me of that old country song "if you got the money, I got the slab"
    or something like that

    Simple!
If I, alone, own a business, I am the only shareholder, and it is a privately held business.
If I, my wife and two children own a business, that business has four shareholders, but is still a privately held business.
