However, if there were only a few of these fakes, wouldn't that make them rare fakes? HMMM I wonder if anyone has started a book on fakes and their values yet.
Although the coin is a counterfeit, did anyone pick-up on the exceptional detail on the devices (i.e. Miss Liberty, her' seat or throne, the Wheat stalks, the Stars, etc.)? They are very crisp or sharp, which one would not expect to see on most counterfeits! Heck, if the Counterfeiter that produced that specific coin, could ever get the Dates correct, then all Trade Dollar Collectors should beware! Frank
Ed, If you want to view the picture of the coin in question, it is posted at the beginning of this Thread! Frank
It looks like it is made of pewter or lead too.......I have a fake coin of Trajan which has the date 120 (presumably AD) on the reverse....Most chinese forgers know too little about coins to get anything other than the design correct...
Thanks everybody for getting rid of another wanna-be "Savannah Scammer" and saving an uneducated collector some money to spend on real coins.
She went under the name "estatedoctor" on Ebay and we got her kicked off for trying to sell counterfeit coins.
